Three Million Lives Empowered During a Year of Global Change

Since July of 2012, we’ve been working together, even through a global pandemic, to provide free advanced health care education to people all around the world. While the year brought hardships, the rise of health care heroes and global changes, in January 2020 we set a new goal for the foundation to empower 10 million people by 2025.

Since setting that goal, the world changed, but our mission did not. We surpassed our annual goals and through the support of our trainers and partners were able to empower a total of more than three million people to save a life. We are thrilled to be one year ahead of schedule, and looking ahead to the 2025 goal! Review our timeline below to see how we are making this happen.

How our Mission Started

In May 2011, National Health Care Provider Solutions (NHCPS) was created to solve the accessibility issue resulting from the traditional classroom portion of traditional CPR, ACLS, PALS, and BLS courses. In July 2012, the Disque Foundation (DF) was formed to work in conjunction with NHCPS to help expand their reach of empowering others.

By 2018 we were delighted by hitting the total of 700,000 empowered to save a life. Two years later, in January 2019, we reached our initial goal of empowering one million people to save a life, one year ahead of schedule. In 2019 we continued our mission and launched, a rebrand of the company to Save a Life Certifications by NHCPS.

Two and Three Million Total Lives Empowered in 2020man-lying-on-stretcher

Last year in 2020, the largest advances in our mission occurred, as we hit two and then three million lives empowered in a single year. In April we were honored to surpass two million empowered, and to have given away $100 million in free certifications through our partner Shortly after in November we hit three million total lives empowered through our online medical education.

Today, we are happy to report we have empowered 3,374,885 people in 181 countries worldwide, and we don’t see an end in sight.

What Happens When a Global Pandemic Hits?

kenya-outreach2020 was a year of change for all us. We would never have expected the impact that a pandemic had on our lives and on our mission. One of the bright spots of the pandemic for our foundation was the incredible growth in customers on our website. Typically we had been seeing around 20,000 users a day on our websites, but during the height of the first wave of the pandemic our site traffic rose to approximately 120,000 users a day.

When asked about the significant jump in customers, Mackenzie Thompson, our Chief Growth Officer and Director of Mission Fulfillment at the Disque Foundation, shared that “We are seeing a huge influx of people wanting to learn online, a lot of people are feeling insecure and not empowered during this pandemic. What we are able to do is train them online with our medical training courses, such as CPR, AED and First Aid. They can feel empowered and also use these skills                                                                                        later on in life.”

We look forward to empowering 10 million people, and we will always strive for more. Check out the Disque Foundation blog to see many of our empowerment trips to underserved countries to bring CPR, First Aid, and many of our other life-saving courses directly to them.
