Alex-Gutierrez

Alex Gutierrez, CRNA, witnessed the beginnings of the Disque Foundation in Racine, Wisconsin, where he roomed and worked with Dr. Karl “Fritz” Disque. As a fresh graduate from Rush University’s School of Nurse Anesthesia, Alex was inspired by the boundless drive of the entrepreneurial spirit behind the foundation. This early impression proved both valuable and lasting, as Alex came to appreciate the life-changing lessons and wisdom imparted by the teachers and mentors around him.

Born in Mexico, Alex’s family moved to a small town in Wyoming during his childhood. From an early age, he learned the meaning of hard work, operating tractors, and working in the fields of the farm his father managed at just 12 years old. His father’s lessons were clear: work hard at school, or work hard on the farm. For Alex, school became the obvious choice, and his dedication earned him a full-ride scholarship to Michigan State University, where he pursued his dreams and left the farm life behind.

The foundation’s mission resonated deeply with Alex, sparking a desire to contribute and take an active role in advancing its work. This inclination to help others has been a guiding principle throughout his career, from his days as an intensive care nurse to his current role as an anesthesia provider. He still enjoys the simplicity of helping a patient through a difficult situation such as surgery, as well as the complexity of running a business in today’s modern medicine. Being bilingual has expanded his ability to help and connect with the Hispanic population, especially the underserved.

A proud husband and father of two young girls, Alex values spending quality time with his family and friends. He also enjoys participating in sports, exploring the great outdoors in his home state of Colorado, and continuing his personal and professional growth.
